The first electric guitar was not developed until the early twentieth century. George Beauchamp received the first patent for an electric guitar in 1936, Beauchamp discover Rickenbacker, originally known as the Electro String Instrument Company, with Adolph Rickenbacher. The spelling of the name of the company are different from Rickenbacher's that he was given the nickname of Germany, which is considered as a suspect during the world war. Although the Rickenbacker began producing electric guitars in the late 1930s, the brand was popular in the 1960s, when John Lennon used a Rickenbacker guitar for the debut of the Beatles on Ed Sullivan in 1964. George Harrison then buy yourself a Rickenbacker guitar, and the company then give him one of the twelve string electric guitar. Paul McCartney also used a Rickenbacker bass for the recording. The Beatles continue to use a Rickenbacker guitar throughout their career, and make the instrument is very popular among the musicians of the time.
